Geneviève Plu-Bureau is professor of gynecology and holds a PhD in biomathematics. A graduate of the department of medicine at Paris Descartes University, she began her clinical practice in Paris at Necker-Enfants Malades hospital, Hôtel-Dieu de Paris hospital and Cochin-Port-Royal hospital. She currently directs the gynecology department at Port-Royal hospital in Paris. She also conducts research started in 1998 as part of the INSERM research team directed by Dr. P.Y. Scarabin on hormones and cardiovascular diseases, as well as research started in 2016 on the INSERM EPOPE team at Port-Royal hospital. Her double expertise in clinical practice and epidemiology enable her to play an important role in evaluating the impact of hormonal treatments on cardiovascular diseases in women. For example, she has studied the effects of steroid hormones on the thrombotic process in premenopausal women (hormonal contraception with various administration methods) and menopausal women (hormone replacement therapy). She helps create and disseminate recommendations on clinical practice with various expert groups, including SFHTA (French Society of Hypertension) alongside Prof. Claire Mounier-Vehier, MD, CNGOF (College of French Gynecologists and Obstetricians), and CNEGM (College of French teachers in Medical Gynecology).

One of her priorities is sharing prevention knowledge and information in the field of gynecardiology. With Dr. Brigitte Raccah-Tebeka, she has written three books published by Elsevier Masson for all actors who provide healthcare for women: La Contraception en Pratique (2013) [Contraception in Practice], Guide Pratique de la Contraception (2015) [Practical Guide to Contraception] and most recently La Ménopause en Pratique [Menopause in Practice] (2019). She has also written a book for women that will soon be published: La Contraception en 100 Questions/Réponses (2020) [Contraception in 100 Questions/Responses].
